Escape, a poem by Robert A. Sieczkiewicz

Shishkin Ivan In the Wild NightIn the Wild Night, Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin (n.d.)

Escape, Robert A. Sieczkiewicz

Frozen white covers tasty green this day,
It is the time for me to break away.
Not be my choice to spend another day,
Preferring the greens when I’m out to play.

Never a fan of Currier and Ives,
Although they graced the homes of many lives.
From white nights I’m one of the fugitives,
Preferring to avoid the negatives.

Here oh so happy in the warmth of green,
Have liberally applied my sunscreen.
Hate to speak using words so mean,
But tonight shall dine in outdoor cuisine.

Deck your every hall with boughs of holly,
Here I’ll be walking sands oh so jolly.

Husband, Father, Grandfather, Lover of all beautiful things. I love to read and write poetry. My favorite hangouts are libraries and museums and yet I love being outdoors. I am a dreamer of things that could be.
